Diagnostic OB Ultrasounds
First Trimester OB < 14 weeks
This is an early first trimester prenatal ultrasound performed transabdominally (on top of the belly) up to 14 weeks gestational age. The assessment includes evaluation of the following: number of embryos/fetuses, location of the pregnancy, fetal heart rate, ovaries and adnexal areas. An estimated due date will be provided.

Patient Prep: Full bladder is required for exam
Please note: Patients must arrive with a full bladder for this ultrasound. Transvaginal ultrasound is recommended for patients under 10 weeks of gestation for more detailed evaluation. If the bladder is not sufficiently full or adequate visualization cannot be obtained, a transvaginal ultrasound may be performed. A $75 fee will apply if a transvaginal ultrasound is performed.
First Trimester Screening with Nuchal Translucency (NT) 11 - 13 weeks 6 days
This prenatal ultrasound examination is performed transabdominally (over the abdomen) between 11 weeks 0 days and 13 weeks 6 days of gestation. The examination measures the fluid-filled space at the back of the fetal neck, known as the nuchal translucency (NT). The assessment includes evaluation of the fetal heart rate and limited fetal anatomy, including placental location, fetal brain, nasal bone, upper and lower extremities, stomach, bladder, ovaries when visualized, and adnexal regions. The results of this screening examination may help determine whether the fetus has a higher or lower risk for certain chromosomal abnormalities. This is a screening test and does not diagnose a chromosomal abnormality.

Fetal Anatomy Survey
This is a fetal anatomic survey performed between 18 and 24 weeks of gestation to assess fetal anatomy and growth. The examination includes evaluation of the fetal heart rate, fetal position, placental location and cord insertion, intracranial anatomy, cardiac views, spine, and facial structures, including the profile, nasal bone, nose, and lips. Additional structures assessed include the three-vessel cord (3VC), upper and lower extremities, fetal sex, stomach, bladder and kidneys. The cervix is also evaluated transabdominally.

Fetal Growth, Reassess Anatomy or Follow-up Exam
This is a prenatal ultrasound examination performed at any time during the 2nd or 3rd trimester to evaluate fetal growth, reassess fetal anatomy that was not previously visualized, and/or follow up on findings identified on a prior ultrasound exam. The standard assessment includes evaluation of fetal heart rate, amniotic fluid index, placenta, fetal position, stomach, bladder, 4-chamber heart and kidneys. Additional views may be obtained as medically necessary based on recommendations from a prior exam.

Biophysical Profile Assessment
This is a prenatal ultrasound examination performed after 28 weeks of gestation to assess fetal well-being using a standardized biophysical profile (BPP) scoring system. The assessment includes fetal movement, fetal tone, fetal breathing movements, and amniotic fluid index (AFI). The fetus must demonstrate all required components within a 30-minute observation period.

Limited Assessment
This prenatal ultrasound examination is performed as a follow-up to a prior scan for various clinical indications, including bleeding or spotting, confirmation of fetal viability, evaluation of fetal position in late pregnancy, and assessment of amniotic fluid volume. The examination is tailored to the specific clinical indication and may include additional assessment as medically necessary.
